The Clark County coroner’s office on Sunday identified a 33-year-old bicyclist killed after being struck by a car while crossing Sahara Avenue Friday night.
Jeffrey Gonzales of Las Vegas died a short time after the crash at University Medical Center.
Metro said the collision happened about 11:40 p.m. Gonzales was on a mountain bike and crossing Sahara at the intersection of Mohawk Street when he was hit by a yellow 2008 Hyundai Accent driven by Abraham Lebron Jr.
Lebron Jr. initially fled the scene, but turned himself in a short time later, Metro said.
He is facing a DUI charge and a charge for not rendering aid after a crash. He was booked at the Clark County Detention Center where he remained Sunday.
