Coroner identifies man killed in Wednesday murder-suicide

The man who was killed in what Metro described Wednesday as a murder-suicide was identified Saturday by the Clark County coroner’s office.

Gregory Russell, 49, of Las Vegas, died of a gunshot wound to the face, the coroner’s office said Saturday. His death was ruled a homicide.

The bodies of Russell and his wife, 61-year-old Paula Russell, were found Wednesday afternoon in the 6200 block of Elton Avenue, near the intersection of Jones Boulevard and U.S. Highway 95.

Police said Paula Russell, who was identified Thursday by the coroner, used a gun to shoot her husband and then turned the weapon on herself. Her cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head and her death was ruled a suicide, the coroner’s office said Saturday.
