Coroner IDs dead pedestrian; driver arrested on DUI charge

The pedestrian killed when he was struck by a suspected drunken driver Friday evening has been identified by the Clark County coroner's office.

Ralph Overton, 69, of Las Vegas, was struck by a 2008 Jeep Liberty while he was crossing Spring Mountain Road about 6:30 p.m., police said. He wasn't crossing at a marked crosswalk, police added.

The Jeep's driver, 35-year-old Las Vegan Peter Mitchell, left the scene, but returned an hour later and showed signs of alcohol impairment, Metro said.

Mitchell faces charges of drunken driving resulting in death and leaving the scene of a fatal crash, police said.
