Coroner IDs man killed Sunday on I-15 near Strip

The man struck and killed by a vehicle Sunday morning on Interstate 15 near the Strip has been identified by the Clark County coroner.

Matthew Robert Graves, 26-year-old Las Vegas resident, was trying to cross I-15 from east to west near Flamingo Road about 7:50 a.m. when he was hit by a Toyota Camry, Nevada Highway Patrol trooper Chelsea Stuenkel said.

“A male pedestrian, illegally in the roadway, was walking across southbound from the center median (east to west),” the highway patrol said in a statement. The pedestrian, later identified as Graves, entered the right travel lane before being struck by the front of the Toyota, the statement said.

The Toyota’s driver, identified only as a 21-year-old woman, was transported to Desert Springs Hospital for possible injuries, the statement said.

Graves was declared dead at the scene.

This marks Nevada Highway Patrol southern command’s 45th fatal crash for this year resulting in 49 deaths, the statement said.
