A La Carte: Dining events and news for March 31-April 6, 2016

Job fair: PT’s Entertainment Group, a division of Golden Entertainment Inc., is set to host two jobs fairs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 29 and April 5 and 2 to 6 p.m. March 30 and April 6 at Golden Entertainment Employment Center, 6595 S. Jones Blvd. The positions are available at the group’s newest locations: PT’s Gold at Whitney Ranch and Sunset Road; and PT’s Ranch at South Durango Drive, north of the 215 Beltway. Positions include bar hosts, servers, bussers, bar-backs, line cooks, prep cooks and dishwashers.

Donate to Junior Achievement: During April, guests who dine on Tuesdays at Fogo De Chao, 360 E. Flamingo Road or 10975 Oval Park Drive, can have 35 percent of their purchase go to Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada. Guests must mention event JA2016 when making reservations. Taste & Learn: Ferraro’s Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar announced its spring event, scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. April 2 at 4480 Paradise Road. This wine- and food-pairing event comprises tasting pours of four wines, each accompanied by an Italian small plate. This month, Taste & Learn is presented in partnership with western Sicily’s Donnafugata winery. Space is limited. Tickets (tax and tip included) are $65 per person. RSVP by calling 702-364-5300.

Eggs for Education: The scholarship fundraising event hosted by McDonald’s is planned April 4-8 at participating Southern Nevada restaurants. Every restauraunt will donate $1 from every Egg McMuffin and Sausage McMuffin with Egg, a la carte sandwich, or Extra Value Meals to its Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Las Vegas scholarship program. Five-course beer dinner: As part of its 20th anniversary celebration, Emeril’s New Orleans Fish House, 3799 Las Vegas Blvd. South, is partnering with Firestone Walker Brewing Co. to host a five-course beer dinner at 6:30 p.m. April 15. Menu offerings and items will be paired or prepared with signature and limited edition craft brews. Tickets are $97 per person (tax and gratuity included). All courses will be served individually. Maibock Tapping Party: From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 14, the public is invited to attend the Maibock Tapping Party at Gordon Biersch, 3987 Paradise Road. Guests can be the first to taste Gordon Biersch’s Maibock, a seasonal unfiltered auburn lager brewed with pale roasted caramel malts. Each guest will receive one complimentary beer along with a sampling of Gordon Biersch’s seasonal menu. Additional beer tickets may be purchased for $5 and can be saved and used for up to one month following the event. Happy hour items will be available until 6:30 p.m. featuring specials priced between $2.95 and $11.95. Open to anyone at least 21 years of age, the event will also include a silent auction with items from Gordon Biersch as well as show tickets, restaurant gift certificates, retail merchandise and more. All of the silent auction and beer ticket sales will benefit Opportunity Village.

Le Diner en Blanc: The event is planned for April 17 at a location to be announced at the last minute. The event is white-only themed, and guests must wear all white and bring a white tablecloth and tablescape (as desired) and a picnic basket comprising fine food, proper stemware and white dinnerware. Restaurant opening: Kent Harman and chef Mike Minor have announced their new restaurant Bandito Latin Kitchen/Cantina, on East Flamingo Road between Howard Hughes Parkway and Paradise Road. The partners are targeting an opening date of late 2016 or early 2017. Visit Facebook.com/BanditoLV.

Food Truck Fridays: From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 1, 8 and 15, local food trucks are to set up shop in the parking lot of the Huntridge Shopping Center, 1120 E. Charleston Blvd.

Mimosa and Murder Sunday Brunch: Marriage Can Be Murder at The D Las Vegas is offering the brunch beginning April 3. Tickets start at $83.20 and include a three-course meal, tax, and server gratuity. Discovering Wine class: The session is planned from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, April 6 through May 4, at Pinot’s Palette, 1000 S. Rampart Blvd. For those 21 or older, the class is all about tasting. It is $219 for five sessions. The classes are offered by chef Les Kincaid through the UNLV Continuing Education January-August catalog. Beer festival: Motley Brews’ sixth annual Great Vegas Festival of Beer is planned from 3 to 7 p.m. April 9 near the Fremont East Entertainment District. Early-entry tickets (2 to 7 p.m.) are $50 until April 9 and $55 at the door. VIP Brewer’s Lounge (2 to 7 p.m.) tickets are $90 until April 9 and $95 at the door.
