Dining Pick of the Week: Rainbow’s End Cafe

PICK OF THE WEEK:
RAINBOW’S END CAFÉ

1100 E. Sahara Ave. at Maryland Parkway, 702-737-1338

For 30 years, Rainbow’s End has been serving an extensive vegetarian, vegan and raw organic menu. And the one item that keeps everyone coming back is the Green Goddess, the restaurant’s famous sandwich that has been served there since day one: avocado, cucumber, tomato, grated carrots and beets, onions, Vegenaise, cheese and sprouts inside locally made whole wheat pita bread. Other sandwiches are tuna salad, avocado special, BLT (vegetarian bacon strips) and burgers (Garden, Boca, soy-free Sunshine). Among the salads are Rainbow, apple walnut, raw kale and Southwest meat-free “chicken.” All salads can be made into a wrap with a sprouted grain tortilla. Several entrees are vegetarian croquettes in country gravy on organic brown rice, steamed organic brown rice and vegetables, Rainbow burrito, stuffed organic tomato and gluten-free tuna casserole. Several breakfast items are yogurt and granola parfait with seasonal fruit and multi-grain bagel with vegan cream cheese and organic peanut butter. There are fresh juices and Tonic smoothies, such as Supreme Energy and Stress Balance. Shop and discover natural supplements, herbs, vitamins and groceries. Sandwiches start at $5.95, and salads begin at $7.49. Rainbow’s End Café is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday. — Jack Bulavsky
