Exhibits lined up for First Friday

First Friday, a monthly arts festival featuring visual and performance art, food and activities, is scheduled from 5 to 11 p.m. Friday in the 18b Arts District downtown and along East Fremont Street.

Romantics are encouraged to share love stories inside the Love Confession Caboose, a train caboose on the corner of Third and Colorado streets. Video from the confessions is to be edited into a piece to appear on the First Friday website.

The Kids Zone is set to feature an exhibition of interactive art for kids and a Fairy Museum interactive exhibit by Penelope Pendragon.

n The Brett Wesley Gallery, 1112 S. Casino Center Blvd., plans to feature "The Primrose Path," by Los Angeles artist Luke Chueh and Las Vegas artist Juan Muniz. An opening reception is planned from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday. The exhibit is slated to run through March 31.

n Blackbird Studios, 1551 S. Commerce St., Suite A, plans to present an exhibition by Biscuit Street Preacher and his alter ego, Goliath Gritt. Biscuit Street Preacher is scheduled to perform a live snake-charming dance, and The Remedies plan to perform live music.

n The Contemporary Arts Center inside The Arts Factory at 107 E. Charleston Blvd., Suite 120, plans to show "Defeat the Future," curated by Yo Fukui and featuring artists Antonio Serna, Chad Stayrook, Naoko Wasugi and Fukui. The center plans to host its 23rd Annual Juried Show March 23 through April 27. Artists who would like to submit work for the show can find more information at lasvegascac.org/2012/juriedshow. The deadline is Feb. 24.

n The Trifecta Gallery inside The Arts Factory plans to present an exhibition by Angela Kallus through Feb. 24.

n The Jenny Valdez Inc. Gallery inside The Arts Factory plans to present Lynne Adamson's works of acrylics, oils, colored pencils and more.

n City of the World, 1229 S. Casino Center Blvd., plans to present the work of Vernon Rowlette in the main gallery.

n "Green Felt Jungle Gym," a show by Mark Brandvik, is scheduled to be on display through March 23 in the Rotunda Gallery inside the Clark County Government Center, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway. The show plays off "The Green Felt Jungle," a 1963 book that exposed the relationship of organized crime to the Las Vegas tourist industry. Brandvik plans a mixed-media sculptural installation of iconic Las Vegas architectural forms layered into an adult-size jungle gym. An artist's talk is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 8 in the center's Pueblo Room.
