Zachary Zeller will represent the United States in fencing at the Federation Internationale D'Escrime Junior World Cup in Gothenburg, Sweden, Feb. 2-3.

He is a freshman in the scholars program at Bishop Gorman High School and a member of the Fencing Academy of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Zachary is the son of Rick and Lydia Zeller of Henderson.

James Buchanan has achieved Eagle Scout status in the Boy Scouts of America.

A member of Troop 515, he extended the drip irrigation system for more than 200 plants at Temple Bar Campground at Lake Mead for his Eagle project.

A junior at Legacy High School, Buchanan enjoys playing football and is a first degree black belt in tae kwon do.

Last year, he completed a 500-mile bike ride from Salt Lake City to Las Vegas.

He plans to join the military.

Buchanan is the son of Thomas and Diane Buchanan of North Las Vegas.

Joshua Arteaga has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

A 2011 graduate of Basic High School in Henderson, Arteaga is the son of John and Veronica Pray of Las Vegas.

Julia Eppes of Las Vegas has been named to the dean's list at the University of Delaware in Newark, Del., for the fall 2012 semester.

Nyasia Hightower of Las Vegas was named to the dean's list at the University of New Haven in West Haven, Conn., for the fall 2012 semester.

Matthew Burt has graduated from Army basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.

A 2011 graduate of Clark High School, he is the son of Daniele Blackburn of Henderson.

Andrew Beitz has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

Beitz is the son of Mike Beitz of Las Vegas and Wendy Moyte of Casper, Wyo.

Jeremy Crivello has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. Crivello is the son of Eric Crivello of Las Vegas and Amy Bradley of Orange, Calif.

Spencer Swerling of Las Vegas has been named to the dean's list at Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, Ga., for the fall 2012 semester. Swerling is a freshman studying rehabilitation sciences.

Manuel Lara has graduated from Army basic combat training at Fort Sill in Lawton, Okla. Lara is the brother of Nohemi Lara of Las Vegas and Jannette Lara of Albuquerque, N.M.

Kyle Randall of Henderson was one of 10 graduate students at the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania to receive the Frank O'Hara Award. The award recognizes students with the highest grade point average at approximately the midpoint of their master's degree programs.

Randall is pursuing a master's degree in nursing as a family nurse practitioner.

Demetria Obilor has graduated from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kan. She received a Bachelor of Science in Journalism degree. A graduate of Spring Valley High School, Obilor is the daughter of Deroy and Janelle Obilor of Las Vegas.

Sarah Mahoney has graduated from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kan.

She received a Bachelor of Arts in sociology with a minor in women's studies.

A graduate of Green Valley High School, Mahoney is the daughter of George and Linda Rosado of Henderson.
