Firefighters extinguish abandoned building fire; est. $20k damage

It took Las Vegas Fire and Rescue ten minutes to extinguish a blaze at a central valley vacant-building early Saturday morning, a department spokesman said.

Firefighters were called to a boarded up four-plex building about 1:35 a.m at the 600 block of Jackson Avenue, near H Street and West Owens Avenue., Las Vegas fire department spokesman Tim Szymanski said.

There were no occupants found in the building and there were no injuries reported, Szymanski said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The damage was estimated to be about $20,000.
