Firefighters extinguish apartment fire in central valley

The Las Vegas Fire Department attacked a fire Friday evening at a central valley apartment complex, the department said.

Firefighters responded at 6:39 p.m. to 713 Aster Lane, near Bonanza Road and Eastern Avenue, where heavy flames and smoke were coming from an upstairs apartment, department spokesman Tim Szymanski wrote in a release.

Crews were working to extinguish the blaze at 6:53 p.m. The fire did not appear to have reached the attic of the apartment building or units on the first floor, Szymanski said in the release.

Szymanski tweeted from the fire department’s account that the fire was out at 7:04 p.m.

No residents or firefighters were injured in the blaze, Szymanski said.
