Girl critical after struck by car at Decatur and Bonanza

A girl was critically injured when she was struck by a car near Western High School on Wednesday, Las Vegas police said.

A call came in at 2:40 p.m. after the girl was hit while walking in a crosswalk near Western, 4601 W. Bonanza Road, near the intersection at Decatur.

She was taken to University Medical Center.

Police initially said her injuries were not life-threatening but later said that it was determined at the hospital that she had a head injury that was “more serious than they originally thought.”

Southbound lanes of Decatur Boulevard at Vermont Avenue and westbound lanes of Bonanza Road were closed off while police investigated.
