Group of people was attacked Wednesday morning in southeast valley

A group of people was attacked early Wednesday morning in the southeast valley.

About 1:30 a.m., three people were walking near a pool at the Arcadia Palms apartment complex, at 3655 E. Sahara Ave., near Boulder Highway, Metropolitan Police Department spokesman Michael Rodriguez said. They were approached by three men, one of whom had a gun.

The men attacked the group, Rodriguez said; one man was shot in the hip and another round grazed his head. The man who was shot was taken to University Medical Center in unknown condition.

Officers stopped a vehicle near the scene and took Horace Horton, 25, into custody in connection with the shooting, Rodriguez said. A gun was found nearby.

Horton was booked into the Clark County Detention Center with one count each of attempted murder with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon, child abuse or neglect with a deadly weapon, and discharging a gun into an occupied structure or vehicle, and two counts of battery with a deadly weapon, detention center logs show.
