Heat wave coming

Things are about to heat up, and fast.

Monday will be the last relatively cool day in the Las Vegas Valley for the next week.

Temperatures are expected to be a breezy 95 degrees today, before jumping to 100 degrees Tuesday, 106 on Wednesday and 109 Thursday.

The increase in temperature has prompted a heat warning for the weekend, with Friday’s high at 113, Saturday at 115 and Sunday at 114.

The record temperatures for the weekend are set at 115, so there likely won’t be any records broken, but it will be the first time the thermometers have hit 115 in Las Vegas since July 6, 2007, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Ryan Metzger.

Winds up to 35 mph are expected Monday.
