Highway patrol seeks public’s help to find car involved in crash

Nevada Highway Patrol seeks the public’s help in finding a car involved in a highway crash Friday afternoon.

A stolen green 2000 Honda Civic was traveling south on Interstate 15 near the D Street off-ramp at about 2 p.m. Friday, when its driver lost control and struck two semi-trucks and a Volkswagen Jetta before striking the concrete barrier wall.

The Honda’s driver, later identified as 20-year-old North Las Vegan Edwin Cisneros, was arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center on two counts of reckless driving resulting in substantial bodily harm, one count of possession of a stolen vehicle and one count of driving without a valid driver license, the highway patrol said in a statement.

Four male juveniles and Cisneros occupied the Honda, the highway patrol said. The juveniles were taken to University Medical Center. Two are listed in critical condition; the other two sustained non-life threatening injuries. Cisneros remained on scene and was uninjured.

The vehicle in question is a silver Volkswagen Jetta; it does not appear to be at fault, the highway patrol said. It exited the D Street off-ramp and is at large. Its driver has not been identified.

The Volkswagen’s right rear tail light is broken and its bumper was hanging off. The car may have a Nevada Las Vegas commemorative plate, the release said.

Anyone with information on the Jetta can contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 702-385-5555 or contact Troopers J. Albano/T. Mleczko of the Nevada Highway Patrol Fatal Team at 702-432-5293. Reference Nevada Highway Patrol case number 160301603.
