Homeless in the valley share their stories — PHOTOS

Marian Tsogalas, a homeless comedian, is among many people in the homeless corridor in Las Vegas who recently shared compelling stories of life's challenges. Tsogalas, whose comedic style is compared to a mix of Lucille Ball and Joan Rivers, enjoys entertaining others at the Salvation Army.

Others profiled are:

— "I am so blessed," said Johanna Stephens, 83, as she paused between bites at a Salvation Army Thanksgiving dinner. The German immigrant, who walked with her family for five months to flee the atrocities of war during the final days of World War II, is current living in Salvation Army's Rapid Rehouse Program and does volunteer work at the church.

Juan Rocha moved his family from Texas because his family was in danger. The four family members live in their vehicle when they run out of money.

Badi Bullock lives at Help of Southern Nevada's Shannon West Homeless Youth Center because he has school debts.

Nayshawn Milton and her husband, Warren, live at the Rescue Mission. The couple, who has been married for two years and flipped homes for a living, lost everything when their apartment was destroyed by fire in November. They never thought they would be in this position but have discovered "a lot of good people."

Calvin White is recovering from back surgery at the Rescue Mission. Although he is in pain, he is always smiling because he received dental work compliments of Obamacare.

According to the annual homeless census for Clark County in January 2014, 578,424 people were homeless on any given night, with 69 percent sheltered.
