LA Kings player faces felony charge in Las Vegas drug arrest

NHL player Jarret Stoll has been charged with one felony count of possession of a controlled substance following an April arrest at a Strip day club, the Clark County District Attorney said Monday.

Stoll, 32, a center for the National Hockey League’s Los Angeles Kings, was arrested after staff members of MGM Grand’s Wet Republic conducted a pat-down and found two small, pink bags of an off-white powder and another clear plastic bag containing numerous gel-caps with an off-white powder inside in the right, back pocket of his swimsuit shorts, the arrest report said.

A sign at the day club entrance tells patrons they will be patted down.

Club security called Las Vegas police. The pink bags tested positive a tenth-ounce of cocaine, police said in April. The gel-caps tested positive for less than three-tenths of an ounce of MDMA, also known as Molly or Ecstasy.

An officer read Stoll his rights about 4:44 p.m. when Stoll admitted the powder was cocaine, Metro said.

The hockey player was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on drug possession charges. He was released on $5,000 bail the same day.

Stoll has been with the Kings since 2008. The team responded to the news of his arrest on its website the day of the arrest.

“We are aware of police reports out of Clark County, Nevada regarding Jarret Stoll. Our organization is concerned and has begun conducting a thorough internal investigation. While we continue to actively gather facts, we are withholding further comment at this time,” the statement read.

Stoll is scheduled to return to court July 1.
