Las Vegas motorcycle officer sustains serious injuries in crash

A Las Vegas police officer was seriously injured after the motorcycle he was driving was struck by a government vehicle during a funeral procession Saturday, authorities said.

Officer David Corbin, 48, was taken to University Medical Center for treatment. The government vehicle, a 2007 Ford Explorer, was driven by Andrew Attridge, 35.

The crash happened about 12:10 p.m. when the Ford made a U-turn in front of the motorcycle officer on Lone Mountain Road, near Tenaya Way. The motorcycle collided head-on with the SUV and the officer was ejected.

The two vehicles were participating in a funeral procession for fallen FBI special agent Daniel Knapp who drowned last month in Puerto Rico while rescuing a swimmer. The swimmer survived.
