Las Vegas police investigating Friday night homicide

Las Vegas police are investigating the shooting death of a man who was found early Saturday morning near Martin Luther King and Lake Mead boulevards.

Metro originally responded just before midnight Friday to reports of shots fired in the 1300 block of Hassell Avenue. No victim or crime scene was located at that time, according to a Sunday release.

Officers responded at 1:03 a.m. to the same area where someone reported that someone had possibly been shot. They discovered a man, dead, on the ground behind a residence, the release said.

The identity of the man will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office after his family has been notified.

There was no suspect as of Sunday morning and the motive for the shooting was unknown, police said in the release.

Police say is the 108th homicide in Metro’s jurisdiction this year.

Anyone with information about the shooting should call Metro’s homicide section at 702-828-3521 or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or visit www.crimestoppersofnv.com. Tips directly leading to an arrest through Crime Stoppers could result in a cash reward.
