Las Vegas police seek man in knife attack on woman

A man is being sought by police after kicking in a door and attacking a woman with a “large knife” in the area of Rancho Drive and Sahara Avenue in late February, Las Vegas police said Thursday.

The woman, who did not appear to know the attacker, suffered multiple serious injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, said Metro spokeswoman Laura Meltzer.

The afternoon of Feb. 25 began with a knock on the door of woman’s apartment at the Sahara Palms Apartments, 2900 block of El Camino Avenue, near the intersection of Rancho and Sahara, police said. The man kicked in the door before the woman was able to open it and immediately attacked her.

A day after the stabbing, neighbor David Shamlin told the Review-Journal that he and another neighbor later found the woman lying in a “pool of blood,” and that they helped her, making improvised tourniquets, before medics arrived.

“She said she didn’t know the attacker,” Shamlin said.

Emergency workers found an uninjured toddler in the apartment, police said.

The attacker was described as a man in his mid-30s of average height and build. His skin complexion is light and he has “significant” acne on his face, police said. He had a thin mustache and wore a red hooded sweatshirt.

Police consider the man armed and dangerous and ask anyone with information to call Metro at 702-828-5634. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or www.crimestoppersofnv.com.
