Las Vegas Valley will continue to bake on Sunday

Triple-digit temperatures and sunshine will continue for the weekend and into next week.

The excessive heat warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

Saturday saw a high temperature of 109 degrees with a low of 82, meteorologist Stan Cyzyk said. Saturday’s high tied the record, set in 1996, he said. Sunday may also tie a 1996 record, if the high temperature reaches the forecasted 108 degrees, Czyzyk said. The low Sunday is expected to be in the 80s.

Monday and Tuesday are expected to each have a high of 104 with lows in the 80s, according to the weather service.

Winds are expected to be slightly higher Sunday than they were on Saturday, with speeds likely to reach 15 mph by the afternoon, Czyzyk said. No rain is in the forecast for the coming week, he said.

The heat and sunshine are set to continue into the coming week.
