Las Vegas woman arrested in North Dakota in connection with teen prostitution case

A Las Vegas woman was arrested in North Dakota in connection with felony human trafficking of a teenage girl, according to the Bismarck Tribune.

The newspaper reported that a 14-year-old Las Vegas girl was found in Minot, N.D., after her mother recognized her photo on Backpage.com, a website similar to Craigslist that is often used by sex workers to advertise their services.

Tayari Chanel Meadows, 20, has been held at the Ward County Sheriff’s Department and was scheduled for an appearance in North Central District Court on Tuesday, the newspaper said.

A Las Vegas woman contacted the Minot Police Department in the north central part of the state about the missing teenager on Monday, the newspaper said. She told officers that she found emails in her daughter’s account that led her to the ad on Backpage.

Police told the newspaper they caught Meadows during an undercover operation.

The Ward County Sheriff’s Department, which serves the Minot area, would not release information to the Review-Journal without permission from their public relations team Wednesday night.
