Man accused of stealing plane faces lewdness charge

The former student pilot accused of stealing an airplane from the North Las Vegas airport over the weekend is also facing charges of lewdness with a minor, police said.

Evan Grant, 27, was arrested by Henderson police on Tuesday, spokeswoman Michelle French said. He was booked into the Henderson Detention Center on two felony counts of lewdness with a minor under 14 years old.

Multiple media outlets aired an audio recording in which Grant said while flying the stolen plane that he was a “pedophile” and that it was his last time to pilot an aircraft.

Authorities were called shortly after midnight Saturday about an airplane being stolen, police said. Multiple jurisdictions were involved, and the plane landed safely.

Grant was arrested by North Las Vegas police and faces one count of grand larceny auto, police said.
