Man found shot dead at MLK and Lake Mead identified

The man found fatally shot early Saturday morning has been identified, according to the Clark County coroner’s office.

Monty Ramond Culverson, a 42-year-old man, was found dead just after 1 a.m. behind a residence near the intersection of Martin Luther King at Lake Mead boulevards.

Las Vegas police initially responded around midnight Friday to the 1300 block of Hassell Avenue after reports of gunshots. They couldn’t find anyone who had been shot at the time, police said Sunday.

Officers responded to the same area about an hour later when someone reported that a person had possibly been shot. Police then found Culverson’s body.

As of Monday, police had not come up with a suspect or a motive in the shooting.

This is the 108th homicide in Metro’s jurisdiction this year.
