Man killed in east Las Vegas shooting was fighting with 2 others

A man who died of a gunshot wound in the east valley Friday night had been fighting with two other men, Las Vegas police said.

About 9:20 p.m., officers responded to a reported shooting in the 5100 block of East Tropicana Avenue, near the intersection with North Nellis Boulevard, the Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement. Upon arrival, police and medical personnel found an unresponsive man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

He was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he later died, Metro said.

An investigation indicates the man and two Hispanic men were fighting in front of a convenience store, and, during the fight, one of the two other men shot the first man with a handgun. The two men then fled in a blue vehicle, police said.

This was the 83rd homicide investigated by Metro in its jurisdiction during 2016.

The Clark County coroner’s office will identify the man killed in the shooting after his family has been notified.

Police said anyone with information can call Metro’s homicide section at 702-828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
