Man killed woman in murder-suicide, Las Vegas police say

A man and a woman were found dead in what police are calling an apparent murder-suicide in the southwest valley, Las Vegas police said Wednesday.

SWAT officers found the 46-year-old woman and 50-year-old man dead in a home near the West Wigwam Avenue and South Jones Boulevard intersection Tuesday night.

Metro Lt. David Gordon said police were called to the 6200 block of Glimmering Lights Avenue a little after 10 p.m.

Police dispatchers heard a man and a woman arguing on the open line followed by a gunshot. After more yelling and more gunshots, the line went dead, Gordon said.

Patrol officers arrived on the scene to set up a perimeter, but they didn’t get any response from people inside the home. When the SWAT team got into the house, they discovered two bodies, Gordon said.

It appears the man shot the woman, police said.

The woman’s death is the third homicide in Metro’s jurisdiction in 2015.

The identity of the man and woman will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office pending notification of next of kin.
