Memorial mass for Judge Susan Scann scheduled for Saturday
The memorial mass for Clark County District Judge Susan Scann, who died July 16 after losing her battle with pancreatic cancer, will be held Saturday.
The mass is scheduled for 1:15 p.m., at St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church, 1111 N. Michael Way near West Washington Avenue. A luncheon will follow at Msgr. LaVoy Hall and burial is scheduled for 6 p.m., at Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.
A viewing and rosary will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m., at King David Memorial Chapel, 2697 E. Eldorado Lane.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to either St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.
Judge Susan Williams Scann (Scannapieco) was born in Riverdale, Maryland, on June 28, 1946. Scann received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington in 1968 and later received her Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law in 1976.
After passing the bar in California and Nevada, she moved to Las Vegas in 1977 and started her career at the law firm of Jones, Jones, Bell, Close & Brown (now known as Fennemore Craig Jones Vargas). In 2010, Scann was elected as an Eighth Judicial District Court Judge, fulfilling a life-long dream.
