Metro investigates abuse report at celebrity chef’s home

Las Vegas police are investigating a report of elder abuse at Las Vegas celebrity chef Kerry Simon’s Spring Valley home.

Officers responded to the southwest valley home about 8 a.m. Tuesday. Police would not say much about the case, which is still under investigation by abuse and neglect detectives.

Last month Review-Journal columnist Doug Elfman reported that Simon is using a wheelchair and fighting a debilitating disease, multiple system atrophy, and working with Las Vegas’ Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health to research the disease.

Simon, 59, has lost the ability to move much and to talk. His iconic restaurant, Simon at Palms Place, is scheduled to close in May.
