Metro officer hit, dragged during stop
A Metro police officer was struck and dragged in a hit-and-run in the south valley Thursday afternoon.
The officer was investigating a separate crash near Eastern Avenue and Windmill Lane when he was hit by the vehicle near about 5:55 p.m., police said. He was taken to University Medical Center with nonlife-threatening injuries.
The vehicle fled after hitting the officer. One passenger is in custody, but the driver is still on the loose, police said.
