Motorcyclist killed in Friday accident on I-15

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Interstate 15 near Sahara Avenue early Friday morning, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened about 1:30 a.m. when two motorcyclists riding in the same lane collided. One of the riders lost control and hit the other bike, a 2008 black Honda sport motorcycle, ridden by 31-year-old Julius Gerald, of Las Vegas.

Gerald then lost control of his motorcycle, hit a concrete barrier and was thrown from the bike. He was then struck by a truck traveling on the interstate, trooper Loy Hixson said. Gerald was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other motorcyclist fled the scene.

Most lanes on northbound I-15 were closed until about 6 a.m., Hixson said.

Anyone with information on the crash is urged to call the Highway Patrol at 702-432-5110.
