New details revealed in Valentine’s Day shooting death

A woman told police that she shot and killed a man who was trying to have sex with her on Valentine’s Day because she was upset about a sexual encounter with the man the day before, according to a Las Vegas police arrest report obtained Thursday.

Cristina Sanchez-Perez, 33, also known as Christina Delcarmen Sanchez, also stole the man’s car and was later involved in a road-rage incident on Interstate 15 in which she shot at another vehicle, police said.

She was booked in the Clark County Detention Center and is facing a first-degree murder charge and one count each of robbery and discharging a gun while in a vehicle.

A tenant found Rodolfo Solis-Gonzalez, 46, lifeless with two gunshot wounds on Valentine’s Day inside a bedroom in a home in the 3900 block of Saguaro Lane, near where U.S Highway 95 crosses Stewart Avenue, police said.

Solis-Gonzalez was only known as “Rudy” by the homeowners who rented him a room that was separated from the home, the report said.

About 2 p.m., a tenant told police that he saw Solis-Gonzalez go into his room with a woman. He then heard a “loud bang” come from the back of the house. Another bang followed at least an hour later.

The tenant told detectives that after she heard the second bang about 4:30 p.m., she saw a heavyset woman walking quickly from the back of the house toward a white SUV. The woman appeared frustrated when she put a toddler inside the vehicle, the report said.

Sanchez-Perez then moved the child into Solis-Gonzalez’s 2012 charcoal Nissan Sentra and took off, according to the report. Detectives found that the SUV she had left was registered under her name.

Solis-Gonzalez’s Sentra was flagged by police as stolen after the homicide.

On Monday, two days later, a man filed a report after he told police that a woman driving a Sentra cut him off when he was driving on Interstate 15, the report said.

The driver said he drove next to the Sentra and “signaled” to the woman, the report said. The man told police he saw the woman aim a “big” gun at his vehicle and fire at least one round.

It wasn’t immediately clear if the vehicle was hit.

Another passenger in the man’s car called police and reported the license plates, which police said were registered to Solis-Gonzalez.

The Sentra was found the next day in a North Las Vegas neighborhood, the report said. Police there arrested Sanchez-Perez when she was leaving a house with her children.

Sanchez-Perez and Solis-Gonzalez had met about a month prior to the shooting and began “seeing each other” a week before Solis-Gonzalez’s death, the report said.

She was upset when she visited him on Valentine’s Day “because Rudy had anal sex with her” Feb. 13, according to the report.

When he tried to sexually engage her, she pulled out a .45-caliber gun from her purse and shot him in his cheek, the report said. She told police she got scared and fled the room but returned an hour later after picking up her daughter.

Sanchez-Perez left the child outside the home and then shot Solis-Gonzalez once more in the chest when she thought she saw him move, the report said.

After she was arrested, police said, she admitted to shooting Solis-Gonzalez and shooting at a vehicle on I-15 because she thought she had recognized the woman passenger as someone who had stolen her identity.

“She admitted it was wrong to shoot Rudy and to shoot her gun on the freeway,” the report said.
