NLV police arrest 29-year-old man in New Year’s Day shooting

A man was arrested by North Las Vegas police Monday afternoon in connection with a fatal shooting New Year's Day, the department said Tuesday.

Shawn Lynn Glover, 29, was arrested about 3:30 p.m. Monday in the 2200 block of North Rancho Drive, near West Lake Mead Boulevard, police said in a release.

Police were called about noon Friday to the 4000 block of Smokey Fog Avenue where they found Patrick Fleming, a 44-year-old North Las Vegas man, dead of a gunshot wound to the head, according to the Clark County coroner's office.

Police said Fleming and Glover argued inside a home before Fleming was shot. Glover fled before police arrived, the release said.

Several people, including children, were inside the home at the time of the shooting, but were not injured, police said in the release. Witnesses to the shooting said the men knew each other.

Glover was booked at the Las Vegas City jail and charged with one count each of murder, assault with a deadly weapon, an ex-felon in possession of a firearm and discharging a weapon in an occupied structure.
