No one hurt in officer-involved shooting in northwest

A Las Vegas police officer fired a weapon at a man who pointed a gun at him in a northwest valley apartment on Sunday, but no one was injured, a police official said.

Police Lt. Les Lane said the incident occurred about
1:21 p.m. at the Grand Canyon Village Apartments, 8250 N. Grand Canyon Drive, near Horse Drive.

Officers responded to a "violent domestic disturbance" between a man and a woman. As an officer entered a residence, he was confronted by 37-year-old Marcus Bolden, who was armed with a gun, police said. The officer gave Bolden multiple commands to drop the weapon and surrender, but Bolden failed to comply, police said.

That's when the officer fired one round, missing Bolden.

The name of the officer who fired the weapon will be released 48 hours after the shooting, in accordance with department policy. He has been placed on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation.

Police said Bolden was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on the recommended charges of felony battery and domestic violence by strangulation.
