Northbound U.S. 95 closed after 3 accidents; one dead

One person was dead and all northbound lanes were closed about 7:20 p.m. Saturday after accidents on U.S. Highway 95 between Valley View and Decatur boulevards, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

NHP trooper Chelsea Webster said three separate accidents occurred in the area, including a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a female involved in the first accident, was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition. She was later declared dead at the hospital. Webster did not know why she was on the freeway.

One of the accidents happened when the driver of another car swerved, trying to avoid the first crash, Webster said.
