NV Energy worker injured by shock from electrical box

An NV Energy worker was hospitalized with minor burns Friday night after being shocked at an electrical box in the northwest valley.

The worker and two others were doing maintenance on the box at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Cimarron Road when they were shocked about 5:45 p.m., Las Vegas fire spokesman Tim Szymanski said.

The shock caused a loud boom that, along with the screams that followed, prompted multiple 911 calls, he said.

The injured worker was taken to University Medical Center for treatment, he said.

The other two workers did not require hospitalization.
