Pedestrian fatally struck at Maryland Parkway, Desert Inn

A person in a wheelchair was fatally struck by a truck in the central valley Monday night, according to Las Vegas police.

The crash occurred at Maryland Parkway and Desert Inn Road about 9 p.m., police said. The pedestrian died at an area hospital, police said.

The intersection was closed while Metro's Accident Investigation Section looked into the death. Metro said just before 11 p.m. that eastbound lanes of Desert Inn, between Maryland and Rome Street, were still closed. The southbound lanes of Maryland are being diverted west, and the westbound lanes of Desert Inn are being diverted north.
