Pedestrian hit by car Monday near Sunrise hospital dies

A pedestrian who was critically injured Monday evening when he was hit by a car near Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center has died, Las Vegas police said.

Josbany Borrego, 27, was listed in critical condition at Sunrise hospital after the crash near the intersection of Desert Inn Road and Aztec Way, police said.

He died at the hospital, police said in a news release Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of the crash at 5:41 p.m. Police said a witness statement and evidence at the scene indicates Borrego, who was walking east on the north sidewalk of Desert Inn, stepped off the sidewalk and into the path of a 2013 Toyota Camry, which was heading west on Desert Inn.

The occupants of the Camry were not injured, police said.
