Pedestrian killed after crash at Nellis and Sun Valley ID’d

The man who died after being struck by a car in the southeast valley Saturday night has been identified by the Clark County coroner’s office as William Neal Holyoke.

Holyoke, 51, was crossing the street in a crosswalk at the Nellis Boulevard and Sun Valley Drive intersection about 5:30 p.m. when he was hit by a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado traveling southbound. The vehicle was driven by 93-year-old Inez Ramirez of Las Vegas.

Holyoke was taken to Sunrise Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said. The coroner ruled his death an accident.

Alcohol or speed do not appear to be a factor in the death, Metro spokesman Lt. Ken Romane said Saturday. Romane did not specify whether Ramirez was arrested, but said such a violation typically results in a misdemeanor traffic citation.
