The teenager who was killed Sunday night when he was hit by a car while crossing the road near Sloan has been identified by the Clark County coroner’s office.
Oscar Cruz, a 19-year-old Tustin, California, resident, died after he was hit by a car Sunday night. His cause and manner of death have not yet been released by the Clark County coroner’s office.
About 10:45 p.m., a 2003 Buick Rendezvous heading east on Sloan Road, approaching Cameron Street, struck Cruz as he was crossing the road outside of a marked crosswalk, police said. According to a Metro news release, Cruz had parked his 2008 Mazda 3 on the side of the road before he attempted to cross the road.
The driver of the Buick, identified as 50-year-old Silvia Perez, attempted to transport Cruz to a hospital, but stopped at a parking lot on Las Vegas Boulevard South to report the incident and request a medical response, the release said.
Cruz was pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical personnel.
Police said Perez then drove near the site of the crash to report the collision to police.
