Pedestrian struck, killed in central valley crash

A pedestrian is dead, and part of southbound Arville Street was closed after a central valley crash Monday night, according to Metro police.

Police were called just after 5 p.m. Monday to the wreck in the 2600 block of Arville Street, near Sahara Avenue, said Metro Lt. Jeff Goodwin.

The pedestrian died, Goodwin said. The person's age and gender were not immediately available.

The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene, Goodwin said.

Arville was closed to southbound traffic after the accident, Goodwin said just after 5:30 p.m. The southbound lanes were partially reopened later Monday evening.
