Person injured in northwest valley apartment fire

One person was hospitalized and eight people were displaced Friday after an apartment complex fire on Decatur Boulevard, near Deer Springs Way, according to the Las Vegas Fire Department.

An aerosol can exploded during a flash-fire in a bathroom at the Decatur Pines Senior Apartments, 6741 N.Decatur Blvd, about 6 p.m., fire officials said. Someone was using an aerosol can that leaked and then lit a candle in the bathroom, causing the fire to ignite.

The fire department said the fire was an accident and lasted for just about a second before the sprinkler system put it out.

The person injured was taken to University Medical Center with minor burns. The fire caused an estimated $1,000 in damage.

The American Red Cross of Southern Nevada are assisting the eight people who were displaced.
