PHOTOS: Wave of new citizens welcomed

LAS VEGAS — U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services welcomed 101 new American citizens from 31 nations in a naturalization ceremony at Lake Mead’s Boulder Beach Campground Amphitheater on Thursday.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Nancy J. Koppe presented new Americans with a Certificate of Nationalization and attendees pledged an Oath of Allegiance.

Two featured keynote speakers were Patrick Gubbins and Marilyn Pitassi, both representing the National Park Service.

The origin of participants included, but was not limited to Bulgaria, England and the Philippines.
