Police looking for men connected to fatal shooting

Las Vegas police detectives on Monday released surveillance photos and descriptions of two men they are looking for in connection with a north valley homicide last week.

Police said the two men were seen in a convenience store located near the intersection of Rancho Drive and Michael Way a few moments before the shooting occurred.

Officers found Robert Matthews, 27, wounded on a sidewalk near the Northpointe Apartments, 3333 N. Michael Way, near West Cheyenne Avenue and North Rancho Drive, shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Matthews was suffering from gunshot wounds and was rushed to University Medical Center, where he later died.

The investigation by homicide detectives indicated the victim and two other people were confronted at the entrance to the complex by two unknown men who arrived in a dark-colored four-door sedan. A brief argument took place, and multiple gunshots were fired. Matthews’ two acquaintances ran away and the two suspects fled in the vehicle.

Police said the first man is in his 20’s and stands about 5 feet 9 inches tall with a medium build with muscular arms. He was last seen wearing a grey tank top with a red and white symbol and white lettering, dark colored shorts, and white tennis shoes.

The second man is also in his 20’s and stands about 5 feet, 9 inches tall with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a black tank top with a red symbol and white writing, long white shorts, white socks and black sandals.

Police described the vehicle involved as a possible Chevy Monte Carlo with a rear spoiler and a sunroof.
