Police make arrest in fatal stabbing at McDonald’s

Las Vegas police said they have arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal stabbing Thursday, the third in a span of 24 hours.

Asa Funderburk was arrested and is being held without bail at the Clark County Detention Center on a charge of murder with a deadly weapon, according to a police statement and the detention center’s website. His age is listed as 31 on the website, but the police statement says he is 36.

Las Vegas homicide investigators determined that Funderburk “was in an argument with the victim prior to the stabbing,” the police statement says.

Officers responded to a McDonald’s near Sahara Avenue and Rancho Drive on Thursday just before 8:30 a.m. Upon arrival, they found a man with what looked like stab wounds, police spokesman Larry Hadfield said. He was transported to University Medical Center where he later died.

The Clark County coroner’s office will release the slain man’s identity.
