Post offices will open on Sundays, extend Saturday hours during December

Several valley post office branches will offer extended Saturday hours and open on two Sundays this month to help handle the holiday shipping rush.

The Postal Service announced the following locations will be open on Sunday and Dec. 20: Summerlin Station at 1611 Spring Gate Lane, the Spring Valley Station at 3375 S. Rainbow Blvd., the Silverado Station at 455 E. Pebble Road, the Meadow Mesa Station at 4904 Camino Al Norte and the Valley Verde Station at 2722 N. Green Valley Parkway.

In addition, Saturday hours will be extended until 4 p.m. on Saturday and Dec. 19 at those locations, with the exception of the Valley Verde office.

Some neighborhoods around the valley will see packages delivered on Sundays, the Postal Service said.

The Postal Service is expecting to deliver a record 600 million packages, which represents a 10.5 percent increase from 2014.
