Sprayed eyeglass cleaner prompts paramedic response
Eyeglass cleaner got a bad rap Thursday on a Clark County school bus.
A student sprayed some cleaner while en route to Cartwright Elementary School, and other kids started complaining about itchy eyes and scratchy throats.
It prompted a paramedic response once the bus reached the school at 1050 E. Gary Ave., near the intersection of Silverado Ranch Boulevard and Maryland Parkway, said David Roddy, spokesman for the Clark County School District.
The kids were deemed OK shortly after, Deputy Fire Chief Jeff Buchanan said. One of the children who had previously exhibited flu-like symptoms was being further evaluated.
The symptoms appeared to have “no relationship” to the lens cleaner, Buchanan said.
The bus driver as a precaution alerted authorities when the kids reported the incident, Buchanan said. Someone may have thought it was pepper spray initially, but it wasn’t.
