State trooper hospitalized briefly after crash

A Nevada Highway Patrol trooper was briefly hospitalized with minor injuries Monday after a driver ran a red light and crashed into her patrol car in the south valley, authorities said.

About noon Monday, the trooper was turning left onto the southbound lanes of the 215 Beltway from Russell Road when the man ran the light, hitting the front of the patrol car at about 45 mph, the Highway Patrol said in a statement.

The trooper was taken to the hospital and released a few hours later.

The 27-year-old man who crashed into her was neither injured nor impaired, but was cited for running the light. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
