Storage unit burns on East Sahara

The Clark County Fire Department responded to a fire at storage facility in the east Las Vegas Valley early Wednesday morning.

The fire broke out at Maycliff Mini Storage Park, 4001 E. Sahara Ave., near U.S. Highway 95, just after midnight.

About 24 responders arrived on the scene after receiving reports of smoke coming from the units, Deputy Fire Chief John Steinbeck said.

"When it's cold in the storage units, the smoke stays low to the ground and it's hard to tell which unit it's coming from," Steinbeck said.

The firefighters had to force or cut open 12 roll-up doors before determining the source of the smoke. Once the fire was located, the department was able to quickly put it out without any injuries.

The burning unit contained mostly motorcycles and motorcycle parts, Steinbeck said.

Information regarding the cause of the fire and the amount of damage caused was not immediately available.
