Tax preparer faces 66 counts of filing false returns

A Las Vegas Valley tax preparer was indicted by a federal grand jury Wednesday on 66 felony counts of presenting false tax returns to the IRS.

Rosherral Beverly, 60, the owner of the tax preparation business RBTB Inc., was charged with advising some two-dozen clients to inflate hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of deductions on their tax returns between 2008 and 2010, according to the indictment.

The inflated deductions included charitable contributions, travel expenses, gambling losses, tuition fees and union dues, the indictment states.

Beverly, who was summoned to face the charges in federal court on April 16, knew the tax returns prepared for the clients were “false and fraudulent,” the indictment alleges.
