“Thunder From Down Under” dancers may take stand in Strip robbery, assault case

There could be a parade of hunky witnesses next month at the downtown Regional Justice Center.

Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Deborah Lippis on Monday set an April 7 preliminary hearing for Joey Kadmiri, the 24-year-old charged with robbing and assaulting cast and crew of Excalibur’s “Thunder from Down Under” show.

Kadmiri, who faces 16 felony counts, apparently got his face pounded by members of the male revue after Las Vegas police said he stole their costumes and makeup and pointed a .44-caliber handgun at them. The gun was fired, but nobody was hit. Kadmiri has said he was high on methamphetamine.

On April 7, Clark County prosecutors must show Lippis they have enough evidence to send the case to trial. The evidence could include testimony from the Thunder from Down Under dancers who police said subdued Kadmiri.
