North Las Vegas police are investigating a crash that left a child in critical condition Friday night.

Just after 9 p.m., an 8-year-old girl was crossing Commerce Street, near Lake Mead Boulevard, when she was struck by a gray truck, said North Las Vegas police spokesman Aaron Patty.

The girl was sent to University Medical Center with critical injuries.

The truck stayed on scene and the cause of the crash is under investigation. Patty did not know if the girl had been in a marked crosswalk.
